I don’t need new air conditioning filters in October!

Fall

A great many people think this as Fall and Winter approach. They are partially right. I say this because the real headline should read →

I need air filters in October! It’s not hot outside and you don’t need air conditioning filters. But – what happens when it’s 50 degrees or colder outside and you want to run your heater?

Outside air passes through your air filters into your home. You know, that Fall and Winter air that is so not clean.

Consider what’s in that outside air — dry grass pollen, decaying and dead plant and leaf debris, dust and dirt from dry soil conditions, smoke from fires, debris from insects and other weather-impacted organisms, pollen from cedar and other pollinating trees and…

I’ll stop now. I think you get it – lots of bad things still need to be filtered out of the air.

With CLEAN air filters that need to be changed on a regular basis, especially if you are running your HVAC heater.

Some folks will argue – I open up my house to allow “fresh” air from the outside.

Yep, the same fresh air that contains dry grass pollen, decaying and dead plant and leaf debris, dust and dirt from dry soil conditions, smoke from fires, debris from insects and other weather-impacted organisms, pollen from cedar and other pollinating trees and… this air gets recirculated in your HVAC system – where you NEED clean air filters to, well, clean the blankety-blank air.

Atchoo !!!

Conclusion: you do NOT need air conditioning filters in Fall and Winter. You DO NEED clean air filters if you plan on using your central air furnace (heater).

You know we don’t kid about around about fresh air – so get new filters today.
